Meet Shimmer the miniature donkey.

Shimmer was in Cowtown on Friday looking for kisses from passers-by.

The idea came from Shimmer's owner, Jan Loeppky-Mackay.

She says that she came up with the idea after seeing the devastation that the Australian fires were wreaking on that country's grassland. Grassland which a number of that countries donkey sanctuaries rely on for hay.

"It was something that I saw on the news and Facebook and all that, so I just decided that I have donkeys, I like them, so I would bring them here and have a kissing booth for them and see what happens."

She approached Dolores Wotherspoon, the manager of Cowtown in Swift Current with her idea, who agreed.

For now, she says that she has only made the plans to have her donkey kissing booth for the day, but she is considering taking it to the Swift Current Ag & Ex Poultry & Exotic Animal Sale that happens each year in the spring.

Loeppky-Mackay owns 15 donkeys in total. Two of whom made the trip to the city for the event hoping to find some love.
