Community members and art enthusiasts can now enjoy a plethora of artworks in a variety of mediums at the annual Open Southwest Art Exhibition.

Swift Current's West Wing Gallery recently opened up the exhibition, featuring the work of Southwest artists.

Morghie Flaterud, program coordinator at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, noted that the Southwest Open Art Exhibit has been taking place under various names for nearly 50 years.

"Artists from Swift Current and the local area are welcome to submit their artwork and it's a non-curated show," she said.

The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Flaterud hopes to open the gallery on Sundays as well if they are able to get more volunteers.

"I'm very happy to see everybody's artwork this year," added Flaterud. "I love to see the variety, Southwest Open is one of my favourite shows of the whole year just because we never know what we're going to get."

The large collection of picturesque paintings, unique statues, and stunning sculptures, will be on display all summer long.

Anyone interested in checking out the wide array of local artworks can stop by the West Wing Gallery and admission is free.
