It will likely take a while before police find out whether a suspicious unit found in a parking near the Swift Current Library was a threat or not.

At last night's city council, Staff Sergeant Gary Hodges and Sergeant Kelly Guider of Swift Current Municipal RCMP gave a community policing report, and they touched on the discovery of a potential pipe bomb from early Thursday morning.

They said the unit was disposed of and exhibits from the parking lot have been sent to Ottawa for tests.

It was also noted by Hodges and Guider that the unit's location wouldn't have been a threat to any surrounding buildings.
