In the April 12 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of  300 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 300 new cases there are 4 in the Far North West zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 17 in the North West zone, 9 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 72 in the Saskatoon zone, 15 in the Central West zone, 22 in the Central East zone, and 96 in the Regina zone.

There are currently 10 new cases in the South West zone, 17 in the South Central zone, and 22 in the South East zone.

There are 12 cases with pending residence information.

Three cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows -  1 to the Central West zone, and 2 to the Regina zone.

Four cases were found to be out of the province residents and removed from the Saskatoon zone (1), the South East zone (1), and 2 pending counts.

Three cases not previously reported were added to the Saskatoon zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 36,604, of which 2,549 are considered active.

There are 48 active cases in the South West zone - 21 in the South West subzone 1, and 27 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 253 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 33,600.

There is one new death reported. That was in the 60-69 age group in the Regina zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 455.

There are 198 people in hospital. One hundred and fifty-seven people are receiving inpatient care - 2 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 4 in the North West zone, 8 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 46 in the Saskatoon zone, 10 in the Central East zone,  and 77 in the Regina zone.

There is 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone, and 7 in the South East  zone.

There are 41 people in intensive care - 3 in the North Central zone, 5 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, and 26 in the Regina zone.

There is 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone, and 3 in the South Central zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 261 (21.3 new cases per 100,000 population).

To date, there has been 707, 648 COVID-19 tests process in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 3,093 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of April 12, 3,485 variants of concern have been identified by screening in the province - 7 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 13 in the North West zone, 39 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 181 in the Saskatoon zone, 13 in the Central West zone, 94 in the Central East zone, and 2,423 in the Regina zone.

There are 33 variants of concern reported in the South West zone, 309 in the South Central zone, and 348 in the South East zone. 

There are 21 cases with residence pending.

There were 0 new lineage results reported today. Of the 1,435 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 1,426 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

The Regina zone accounts for 1,131 (or 79 %) of the variants of concern cases with confirmed lineage reported.

Variants of concern are beginning to rise across the province, particularly in the Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn and Saskatoon areas. Residents in the province are urged to adhere to best personal protective measures.

Avoid all unnecessary travel to and from Regina, Moose Jaw and Weyburn.

The Chief Medical Health Officer has extended the provincial public health orders announced March 9, and the Regina and area revisions announced March 24, until April 26 and then they will be reviewed at that time.

The SHA has reported one outbreak in Swift Current - at the Nimegeers Carlson Law Firm. In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

An additional 8,856 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 290,921.

Of those 8,856 doses administered, there were 461 given in the South West zone.

Fifty-two percent of Saskatchewan residents age 50+ have received their first vaccine dose.

The Pfizer shipment (31,590 doses) is expected April 13 and 14 and will be distributed throughout the province.

The April 19 Moderna shipment is delayed however, very few rescheduled appointments are anticipated. Residents will be contacted if their booking is affected.

Saskatchewan's vaccine booking system is available to all individuals 55 years of age and older. Eligible people can book their appointments online or by phone.

Drive-thru and Walk-In clinics continue to operate in Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, and Yorkton.
