In the February 8 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 171 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 171 new cases there are 16 in the Far North West zone, 8 in the Far North Central zone, 11 in the Far North East zone, 10 in the North West zone, 15 in the North East zone, 34 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central West zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 43 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 14 in the South East zone.

There are 3 cases that have pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 25,574, of which  2,204 are considered active.

There are currently 9 active cases in the South West zone, 8 of those active cases are in the South West 1 zone, and 1 active case is in the South West 2 zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases sits at 223 (18.2 new cases per 100,000 population).

There is one active outbreak reported at the Assiniboia Union Hospital located in the South Central zone.  In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

There were 328 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 23,029.

Two Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One death was reported in the 50-59 age group, and one death was reported in the 70-79 age group, both from the North West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 341.

There are 214 people in the hospital. One hundred and eighty-four are receiving inpatient care -3 in the Far North West zone, 19 in the North West zone, 25 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 63 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 10 in the Central East zone, 56 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 4 in the South East zone.

There are currently 30 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 2 in the North Central zone, 12 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, and 11 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, there has been 528,916 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,337 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

There were 509 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 42,987.

Due to extreme weather and reporting delays, the number of vaccines administered yesterday was lower than targeted.

Second doses in the Far North Central region will continue on February 9 to align with the first dose schedule, and has further contributed to lower administration numbers yesterday. With this, 96% of the doses received have been administered to date.

This week's Pfizer allocation of 1,950 doses is scheduled to arrive in Prince Albert on Thursday February 11. These are the second doses required to complete the Prince Albert Phase 1 of long-term care and priority population.
