In the January 6 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority, there were 277 new cases of the virus reported in the province.

Of those 277 new cases there are 3 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 32 in the Far North East zone, 18 in the North West zone, 40 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 44 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 4 in the Central East zone, and 70 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 new case in the South West zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 16 in the South East zone.

There are 42 new cases that have pending residence information.

Eight previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows: 3 to the North Central zone, 4 to the North West zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

Seven residents tested out of the province have been added to the counts as follows:  2 to the Far North West zone, 1 to the Far North East zone, 2 to the North West zone, 1 to the Saskatoon zone, and 1 to the pending residency category.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 16,804, of which 2,892 are considered active.

There are currently 13 active cases in the South West zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 233 (19.2 new cases per 100,000 population).

Nine Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death was recorded in the 60-69 age group in the Central West zone, 2 new deaths were recorded in the 80+ age group in the South East zone,   Three new deaths were recorded in the Regina zone - 2 in the 80+ age group and 1 in the 20-29 age group. One new death was recorded in the 80+ age group in the North Central zone. And 2 new deaths were recorded in the Saskatoon zone - 1 in the 60-69 age group and 1 in the 50-59 age group.

This brings the total number of deaths in the province related to COVID-19 to 174.

There were 439 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 13,737.

There are 172 people in hospital. One hundred and forty-three people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Farm North Central zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 6 in the North West zone, 28 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 37 in the Saskatoon zone, 6 in the Central East zone, and 48 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 9 in the South East zone.

There are 29 people in intensive care - 2 in the North Wests zone, 3 in the North Central zone, 10 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 13 in the Regina zone.

As of January 6, a total of 4,524 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Saskatchewan. This includes 2,069 Pfizer doses in the Regina pilot program, 2,407 Pfizer doses in Saskatoon, and 48 Moderna doses in the Far North East and Far North Central zones.

Three thousand, nine hundred doses of Pfizer are expected to arrive in Prince Albert today with administration to follow soon after.

Today, the Government of Saskatchewan will be allocating all remaining Moderna doses received to date to the Far North East and North East zones. They will be shipped as soon as possible and priority sequencing of eligible residents for these zones will include residents and staff of long term care and personal care homes and front-line health care workers.

To date 439,515 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday , there were 2,094 COVID-9 tests processed in the province.
