The Swift Current 57's big lead wasn't enough to hold off the heavy-hitting Parkland Twins on day two of action at the 13U National Western Championships.
The Twins plated seven in the top of the sixth inning to erase a seven-run deficit before completing the impressive comeback in the top of the seventh inning scoring three more times en route to a 12-9 win at Kiwanis Field.
Swift Current raced out to a 4-1 lead after scoring four times in the bottom of the third inning. They then stretched their lead to 9-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with a five spot.
57's Shortstop Cole Laidlaw had a team-high three hits, scoring twice, and knocking in two RBIs. Third baseman Quinn Bolton went 2-for-3 at the dish, drawing a walk, scoring a run, and adding an RBI.
While Shaunavon's Samuel Olesen was stellar on the mound for Swift Current logging five innings pitched, striking out a pair, and only allowing four earned runs.
The 57's will now need to win Saturday morning against the 1-1 Victoria Seawolves if they have any hopes of qualifying for the playoff rounds.
The first pitch for that pivotal matchup goes at 11:30 a.m. from Kiwanis Field in Swift Current.
