Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall spoke out against US protectionism in Washington this week, saying our two countries need each other. Wall has been holding trade talks with US politicians this week, lobbying for trade to continue.

In a speech to The Heritage Foundation, Wall highlighted ways in which trade benefits both partners.

"Saskatchewan farmers buy John Deere tractors that are made in Waterloo that are used to raise oats, they sell those oats to Cedar Rapids, General Mills makes them into Cheerios and then we buy them back. That's an integrated economy."

US President Donald Trump has ordered a study on all US trade partners, feeling some employ anti-competitive trade practices.
