The Innovation Credit Union Wildcats host the Saskatoon Stars tonight as they look to get back into the win column after a rough weekend in Regina. 

The Wildcats fell in two close games to the league-leading Rebels on the road and sit third in the league standings with four games left in the regular season. 

Tonight’s game starts at 8:00pm from S3 Arenas. 

In other minor hockey, the Swift Current U18 A provincial team skated to a 2-2 tie in Weyburn in the opening game of the first round on Tuesday. Game two of the two-game total point series is next Wednesday at S3 Arenas.

In the WHL Tuesday night, Jhett Larson had the OT winner as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Regina Pats 6-5, while Charlie Wright scored 15 seconds into extra time in a 2-1 win for the Saskatoon Blades over the Winnipeg ICE, and Evan Herman scored twice as Prince Albert doubled up Victoria 6-3. Regina visits Calgary, Moose Jaw heads to Lethbridge, Saskatoon visits Winnipeg and Prince Albert travels to Vancouver tonight as the Swift Current Broncos continue their road trip against the Tri-City Americans.

In the NHL, Brady Tkachuk scored the game winner with 1:18 left in the third period to give the Ottawa Senators a 5-4 win over the Canadiens in Montreal. Tim Steutzle had a four-point night with two goals and two assists for the Sens, who have a four-game winning streak heading into the All-Star Break.

Just two games are on the NHL schedule on the last night of action before Saturday's All-Star Game in Florida. The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins, who are looking to snap a season-high three-game losing streak. Also, the Buffalo Sabres host the Carolina Hurricanes, who rallied from down 4-1 after two periods to beat the LA Kings 5-4 in overtime Tuesday night.

Riders cut Leonard, Elks look to sign him

The Saskatchewan Roughriders released defensive lineman AC Leonard on Tuesday, a day before he was reportedly set to receive a $40,000 roster bonus.

Leonard, who had 33 tackles and three sacks with the Riders last season, is reportedly set to sign with the Edmonton Elks. He had a career high 11 sacks with the Riders in the 2021 season and has 39 sacks in 91 career CFL games.

The free agency period in the CFL begins on February 14, but negotiations between teams and pending free agents can begin this weekend.

Tom Brady retires... for real this time

Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady announced on his social media this morning that he is retiring "for good". The 45-year-old initially retired after the 2021 season, only to return 40 days later.

Brady won seven Super Bowls, three league MVP awards and was named Super Bowl MVP five times over a 23-year career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time.
