Early morning train fire near Piapot
Firefighters were called out early Tuesday morning after a train engine caught fire near Piapot. According to a Facebook post from Joe Braniff, the Piapot Fire Department received the call at 3:49 a.m. for a fire involving a Canadian Pacific Kansas City train engine. No information was immediately available about injuries, the cause of the fire, how badly the train was damaged, or when firefighters cleared the scene. Locomotive identified in photo An image shared in the post shows a locomotive labelled Kansas City Southern, unit 5024. The locomotive is a GE ET44AC Tier 4 model. It is part of a group of locomotives delivered by General Electric to Kansas City Southern between 2018 and 2019. Unit 5024 is the final locomotive constructed in that series.
