The Swift Current 57’s dropped their first road playoff game this season after late-game heroics fell just short, losing 6-5 to Edmonton.

Some stagnant bats to start the game for Swift Current until a Nick Canas triple to lead off the top half of the seventh inning, who later scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat.

The 57’s scored again in the eight on a throwing error from the Prospects shortstop, plating Cole Thibideau.

Down 6-2 in the ninth inning, Swift Current continued to surge. The 57's loaded the bases before Nick Canas once again crossed home plate after John Baiada was hit by a pitch, advancing all base-runners.

After Cole Thibideau became the first out of the inning, the 57's once again got to jog freely from third base to home plate - this time Thomas DeBonville after Riley Campbell became the second batter in the inning to get hit by a Prospects' pitch.

Now down 6-4, Brett Esau was the next to reach home after Matt Bondarchuk hit into a fielder's choice, with Campbell called out at second for the second out.

The magic ran out there for the 57's as Blake Adams hit into the final out the next at-bat, ending the threat one run shy of the comeback.

On the mound in the game for Swift Current, a strong start by Mitch Guiberson through six innings for the 57’s giving up two runs. However the seventh inning spelled the exit of the Pocatello, Idaho product. A four-run seventh inning meant the end of the starter’s night, finishing with six earned runs and ten hits through six and one-third innings.

Now, a familiar feeling for the Swift Current 57’s as they've been pushed to the brink of elimination once again in the 2017 WMBL playoffs, after coming back from 2-0 series deficit against the Weyburn Beavers to reach the championship series.

Down 2-1 in the finals, the 57's look to stave off elimination once again. Game four goes tonight from ReMax Field in Edmonton, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
