He couldn't have scripted it any better.

Former Swift Current Broncos forward Jake DeBrusk made his NHL debut a memorable one by scoring a highlight reel goal on the way to a 4-3 Boston Bruins win over Nashville.

DeBrusk scored early in the second period to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead and later set up a Charlie McAvoy goal. He played on a line with Bruins star David Krejci.

The son of former NHLer Louie DeBrusk spent last season with Providence in the AHL where he had 19 goals and 30 assists in 74 games.

Swift Current picked DeBrusk in the 7th round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft when he was only 5'4. The Edmonton product grew into his frame and scored 41 goals during his 2014-15 campaign. Boston then picked him 14th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

DeBrusk scored 66 goals and had 80 assists in 168 games with the Broncos before finishing his WHL career in Red Deer.

He is one of eight former Broncos who have started the season on an NHL roster.
