A former Swift Current Bronco has gotten a scouting job in the NHL.

Darren Kruger played for Swift Current during the 1987-88, 88-89 seasons, amassing 145 points (24 goals, 121 assists) over 141 games, highlighted by a 97-point season in his second and final year with the club.

Kruger was hired on as a scout for the Calgary Flames, where he will be scouring familiar territory for talent – the WHL’s Eastern Conference.

Kruger most recently served as Senior Director of Player Development for the Medicine Hat Tigers after four years of service as assistant coach for the Broncos’ WHL neighbour to the west.

The native of Toronto, Ontario now takes over the role on the Flames scouting staff from another individual with ties to the Broncos’ organization, former heach coach and general manager, Brad McEwen.

McEwen served in the role for the previous three seasons, but was recently named named Hockey Canada's head scout for the Under-17, Under-18, and World Junior programs.

With Broncos rookie and training camps starting up early next week, Kruger will be jumping into the scouting job immediately for his new NHL employer.
