On the road in Wilcox taking on the Notre Dame Argos last night, the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires earned a 7-5 come-from-behind win.

Swift Current fell behind early, as goals from Keaton Sorensen, Alex Von Sprecken, and Shane Collins gave the young Argos squad a 3-0 lead after the first period.

"After the first period we felt we didn't play as good as we could have, being down 3-0. But, when I look at video, we were fine," said Legionnaires' head coach Darren Evjen, whose team out-shot Notre Dame 15-8 in the opening frame.

"Our biggest thing was we didn't play hard enough to defend," he added. "It was one of those situations where we're not where we want to be after the first, but we need to get that first goal and just get going. We knew if we did that, we'd have a chance to get back in the game."

Notre Dame was the first to score in the second period as well, as Hardy Wagner buried a puck in the Legionnaires net on the man-advantage for a 4-0 lead.

The momentum for the red-and-white stopped there, as the Legionnaires finally managed to grab that aforementioned first goal, and didn't look back.

Owen Ozar put the Legionnaires on the board with his team-leading 17th goal of the season nearing the midway point of the second. Six minutes later Kersey Reich put one home on the power play to make it a 4-2 game.

Just 18 seconds later the lead was cut to one, as rookie Reed Jacobson scored his seventh goal of the season - he'd add his eighth of the season less than three minutes later to tie the game at 4-4.

Swift would take the lead with just five seconds left in the second period courtesy of Rin Beny.

As the offense continued to click, the Legionnaires managed a sixth unanswered goal to start the third period off the stick of Hunter Lamb.

Notre Dame cut the lead to 6-5 on their fourth power play goal of the game just over two minutes later, but the Legionnaires were able to put the game out of reach as Mason Strutt scored the game's final goal.

Swift Current out-shot the Argos 40-23 in an effort that impressed their head coach.

"It was a very character win. It's tough on the road when you're down 4-0 to come back and win," said Darren Evjen. "I think it's one of those things - halfway through the season when you can do that, it gives you a lot of faith in your hockey club that they can handle adversity throughout a game, and make a push to come back and win. That was probably the biggest thing last night."

The Legionnaires (14-9-0-3) now look to a Friday home game at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex as they welcome the Moose Jaw Generals (6-14-3-2) to Swift Current.

The two teams have met once this season, although that came on September 27 in the second game of the season - a 2-1 Moose Jaw win.

"They're a very defensive team, they have a good structure. They're a team I think that's young, but getting better every day," said Evjen, noting his team will need to be focused in the game.

"It's the parity in our league - you're going to have to be ready to play. They'll come out and play hard and give themselves every opportunity to try and win that game."
