UPDATE - 1:38 p.m.

SaskTel reported as of 12:52 that service should be restored, returning phone lines to normal service.

The Crown corporation says that they will monitor the situation throughout the day.

It may be difficult to make a phone call in Saskatchewan today.

SaskTel is reporting outages for land lines, wireless, toll free and long distance services.

This has resulted in an inability for people to make phone calls from cell phones and land lines.

SaskTel is working to remedy the issue.

Greg Jacobs, external communications manager with SaskTel, said that if you run into the issue, to hang up and try again.

"Because the issue is intermittent, and it is intermittently impacting land line, wireless, long distance and toll free calls, if customers are trying to make a call and it is failing, I would recommend that they hang up the phone, wait a few minutes, and then attempt the call again, in some cases that appears to work for some customers."

In Shaunavon, the Courtesy Car cannot be reached if you are calling from a land line phone, however, Courtesy Car operators say that cell phones appear to be able to get through.

In some cities services such as police and fire are unable to receive calls on their non-emergency lines. In Shaunavon the local detachment phone line is working.

9-1-1 is still working for emergency calls.

Earlier today SaskTel had reported issues with their SaskTel Max services.

There is no word if the two issues are related, and they are still investigating the cause.
