Cypress Hills Ability Centres Inc. and SARCAN Recycling celebrated the grand re-opening of the Shaunavon SARCAN Depot this past Friday.

The re-location was in response to the growing demand for beverage containers, paints and electronics recycling in Shaunavon and surrounding area.

A large group attended the formal ceremonies with included guest speaker, Owen Sebastian, Chairperson of Cypress Hills Ability Centres Inc. He talked about special features of the new location. "Our customer service area expanded and, because of the automatic doors, customers no longer have to try to open the door while taking their recycling into the building. A large door at the rear of the building will allow us to accommodate larger items as well as accommodate larger customer drop off."

Also in attendance were MLA for Cypress Hills, Doug Steele, Shaunavon Mayor, Grant Greenslade, Dawn Desautels, President of the SARC Board of Directors, Sean Collins, Director of Collections for SARCAN Recycling and Kevin Acton, Director of Operations for SARCAN Recycling.

The new building, located in the former liquor store building on second avenue east, is three times the size of their previous location, and provides a more efficient and safe work environment for their staff.

The event also included a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by tours of the building and refreshments.

The Shaunavon Depot recycles   1.8 million beverage containers each year.
