Southwestern Saskatchewan has been seeing a lot of smoke over the past week.

The cause of the smoke is the hundreds of wildfires burning in British Columbia currently.

Meteorologist for Environment Canada Terri Lang, said the hazey weather could be around for awhile.

"I think over the next day or so we should see it thin out, the issue is i think it's going to come back on the weekend," she added. "I think we're going to see this on and off probably well into September until the forest fires themselves start getting put out."

The smoke made it's way from British Columbia all the way here because of the upper winds, after the smoke from the fire gets lifted high into the air that carries it thousand of kilometers.

Lang also said that the smoke could severly harm people with existing health issues. It can also harm people without health problems if to much time is spent in the smokey weather.
