The number of active cases of COVID-19 around the province dipped under 60, as announced by the Sask Health Authority Thursday afternoon.

The SHA’s daily update for April 23 noted five new cases and nine more recoveries in Saskatchewan.

The overall case total now sits at 331, with one of those still considered a presumptive positive case.

Another nearly double-digit increase in recoveries puts that total at 270 province-wide.

With the decrease of four active cases, there are now 57 currently in Saskatchewan.

One case remains active in the south region of the province, with a total of 15 reported cases still standing in the region. That total was first reached April 5.

Six individuals are currently hospitalized in Saskatchewan. One is in the ICU, with the other five receiving inpatient care.

117 of the cases have been in the 20-39 age range, 113 are in persons aged 40-59, another 65 have been in the 60-79 range, 26 have been reported in the 19-and-under age range, with the other 10 in individuals aged 80+.

Overall, 20 cases are still under investigation for the source of contraction.

There have been 25,872 tests performed around Saskatchewan to date.
