4-H Saskatchewan is turning 100 years old in 2017.

The 100 year Gala goes tomorrow in Saskatoon with keynote speaker and 4H Alumni Temple Grandin.

Currently, there are 175 4-H clubs in Saskatchewan.

Executive Director Cera Youngson says the role and growth of 4-H clubs have grown since it began back in 1917.

"We're very proud of our agricultural routes and that's what has led us to be the strong program we're today," she said. "We really have expanded beyond what a lot of people think of 4-H, a lot of people don't realize that you can do projects like geocaching, science and technology, computers, robotics and all types of things as there is no real limit to the type of 4-H project you can do today."

She says, 4H members, not only learn from the projects they are involved in but they also develop leadership and communication skills that benefit them throughout their life.

Executive Director Cera Youngson says at the base of the 4H is the club's motto.

"I pledge my head to clear thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living. For my club, my community and my country."
