There’s some good news for Saskatchewan Pulse Growers.

India has approved a six-month extension regarding its call for Canadian Pulse exports to be fumigated prior to leaving Canada, as opposed to the current status of fumigation on arrival in India.

India’s extension regarding fumigation on Canadian Pulses is in effect now til December 31, 2017.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers say clarity is still required on higher inspection fees that may apply to Canadian pulse exports headed to India.

Negotiations with the Indian Government continue through this extension in an effort to reach a permanent solution for Canadian pulses moving into India.

India is one of Canada’s most important export markets, with over 1.9 million tonnes of Canadian pulses exported into India last year.
