The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Associations Wildfire Relief Fund continues to grow.

In just over a week cash, goods and services of about 200 thousand dollars has been raised to help ranchers affected by the recent wildfires in the southwest.

General Manager Chad McPherson says they’ve been overwhelmed with the donations to date of cash, feed, labour, fencing supplies and more but talks about one area where they need some help.

"We've received a lot of donations of feed but one thing that we are needing more of is trucking to be able to get the feed to the people that need it," he said. "So if there are truckers or trucking companies out there interested in providing some in-kind trucking that would be greatly appreciated."

McPherson says they’ve already had about 10 applications come in for assistance and he’s expecting to see more.

The Burstall fire covered about 75,000 acres, the Tompkins fire nearly 10,000 acres, while a fire in Glentworth burned about 3000 acres in September.

McPherson says a benefit concert with Saskatchewan Recording Artist Justin LaBbrash is being held this Saturday in Cabri.

"My understanding is Justin is a multiple generation agriculture producer from Lumsden, Saskatchewan and he was just looking to give back to the producers impacted," he said.

Tickets for the concert are available at www.labrash.net while donations to the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association Wildfire Relief Fund can be made through their website at www.stockgrowers.com
