The Swift Current 57’s have the day off today, after polishing off a strong weekend of play in Okotoks.

After winning 4-3 over the Dawgs on Friday, the 57’s downed them 3-1 on Saturday in a strong collective pitching performance.

They then rounded out a three-game set with a 7-6 win in extra innings on Sunday.

The Sunday afternoon win was the fifth-straight on a five-game road swing, and the ninth-straight overall.

Now, the 57’s (38-17) await a game tonight to see if their regular season finale has meaning.

The first-place Regina Red Sox (39-15) take on the Melville Millionaires at home. Up 1.5 games, the Red Sox can clinch first place with a win.

If they lose though, then it’ll be one exciting finale.

Swift Current will host the Red Sox Tuesday night at Mitchell Field to close the 56-game regular season.

We’ll have updates tomorrow morning once tonight’s game between Regina and Melville gives more clarity on the playoff picture, and the race for first, in the WCBL’s Eastern Division.
