The Swift Current 57's suffered a sixth consecutive loss in the early WCBL season after dropping a 10-1 decision to the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Thursday night at Athletic Park.

Demetrio Archuleta hit a solo home run in his 57's debut for Swift Current's only run of the game in the fifth inning as the team was limited to just four base hits. Tyler Vanneste drove in a pair of runs and Jordan Phillips and Nick Thibodeau had three hits each to lead the Mavericks' offence, while Braedon Davis allowed three hits and struck out seven to pick up the win. Lachlan Hockey struck out three batters over four innings in the loss.

The 57's (1-6) start a home-and-home set with the Moose Jaw Miller Express tonight at 7:00 p.m. from Mitchell Field, with the second game at Ross Wells Park in the Friendly City on Saturday.
