The Swift Current Broncos are 1-1 on the pre-season so far after a 7-4 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday night at Southland Co-op Centre in Assiniboia.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead on two goals by Jagger Firkus in the first period before new Broncos acquisition Billal Noori got Swift Current on the borad with 1:44 left in the opening frame. Atley Calvert put the Warriors up 3-1 midway through the second and then Van Eger, who grew up in nearby Willow Bunch, scored to start a run of three unanswered goals for the Broncos with Sawyer Dingman and Mason Fauser putting Swift Current up 4-3. Lynden Lakovic tied the game back up at 4-4 with 4:08 left in the second, and then Calvert completed the hat trick with two goals in the third period before Firkus got his second of the game to wrap up the scoring for the Warriors.

Ryan McLeary had three assists for the Broncos and Caleb Wyrostok and Maddix McCagherty added helpers. Joey Rocha made 30 saves as the Warriors outshot the Broncos 36-33.

Swift Current will visit Medicine Hat on Friday before hosting the Tigers to wrap up the pre-season on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast live on the Eagle 94.1 FM with Redhead Equipment Case IH Broncos Hockey starting 15 minutes before face-off.
