The Swift Current Broncos are off tonight, but they are gearing up for Saturday's traditional Teddy Bear Toss game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Those coming to the game are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or other plush toy, and fans can throw those stuffed animals onto the ice when the Broncos score their first goal.

"It's a blast, we look forward to it for the first half of the year," Broncos captain Owen Pickering said during a team appearance at the Brick in Swift Current, which is sponsoring Saturday's game. "I've been through one and it was a ton of fun. We're hoping for a huge crowd on Saturday, and it goes to a good cause, so we're excited."

All of the toys that are collected will be donated to children in the community through the Salvation Army.

The Broncos, meanwhile, will be looking to snap out of a recent slide where they've lost their last three games in a row, including a 7-2 loss in Lethbridge on Tuesday and a 4-1 loss to Calgary at home on Wednesday.

Saturday's game starts at 7:00pm from InnovationPlex and you can hear the game on the Eagle 94.1 FM with Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey beginning at 6:30pm.
