A long-standing golf tournament that aims to help local students enrolled in the Chinook Alternate Middle Plus School (CAMPS) is returning next month.

The fundraiser, held at the Saskatchewan Landing Golf & Country Club, has been dormant since 2019 but will be teeing off on June 3.

Lindsay Painchaud from CAMPS said they're hoping for over 100 golfers to hit the links with 70 already signed up.

"We're super excited," she said. "It's a great place to spend the day and the food is great. We just hope the golfers come out and join the fun."

The event serves a couple of purposes for CAMPS. It helps them raise awareness around the program hosted at Fairview School for grade 5-9 students and the money aids them with field trips and programming.

"It was created for children who have difficulty succeeding in the regular school environment due to emotional, social, and behavioural challenges," she said.

CAMPS' goal is to provide their students with the necessary skills to transition back to regular school learning or into a workplace setting.

The tickets for the event cost $100 and include an 18-hole Texas scramble green fee with cart, breakfast and supper, along with prizing.
