Child vehicle safety can be a big concern, but SGI is helping parents to put their concerns to bed.

The Crown corporation is helping motorists ensure that their precious cargo travels as safe as possible.

Tomorrow, the local SGI Claims Centre will be offering a free clinic to promote the safe installation of child seats.

From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., car seats will be correctly installed free of charge.

Alicia Dyck, a car seat technician and glass adjuster at SGI, said that a surprising amount of car seats are installed incorrectly.

She added that the work is very rewarding for her, considering what is at stake.

"I love it when they come right from the hospital or when they're pregnant we make sure they're safe right from the get-go, especially when they do come in and have things installed incorrectly, it makes you feel really good that you're able to make them safe."

"We have multiple technicians available, you can come pull inside out of the cold, and we will check your seats, or help you install your seats, show you how to do it, and just make sure everyone's safe."

This is the first year the program is taking place in winter in Swift Current, and Dyck hopes to offer the program once again next year.

Dyck was approached by the car seat technician coordinator with the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute with the opportunity to host the program in Swift Current.

"We jumped on it as soon as he gave us the chance there, so we're hoping that this goes really well and we can get good attendance and we can keep helping people out."

She also conducts car seat inspections upon appointment requests.
