Friday night's tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos had some ripple effects at Swift Current city council last night.

All City staff wore black shirts with the words "we are Humboldt strong" in green lettering in support, as well as before council began there was a moment of silence.

At the end of council, Swift Current Mayor Denis Perrault addressed the room regarding the tragic incident and shared his sympathy on behalf of everyone from Swift Current.

"On the behalf of our community - just truly our deepest condolences for everyone and we just want to extend the strength to the Humboldt and all of those around for Humboldt strong," he said to end the meeting.

Perrault was also pleased with the way Swift Current came together to pay their respects. The light & power employees lowered all the City's flags to half-mast and they will stay there for the next 15 days.

City employees along with Swift Current Broncos staff also worked together on Sunday to show the live-streamed Humboldt Broncos vigil on the big screen at the iPlex. Perrault shared Monday night at council the City raised $3,000 for the Humboldt Broncos.

The first-term mayor also said the Tuesday night at the Swift Current Broncos game there will be people there collecting money for the SJHL's Broncos.
