In the August 31 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority, they are reporting a total of four new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those four new cases, there is one in the Saskatoon zone, one in the Central East zone, one in the South West zone, and one in the South Central zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases of COVID-19 to 1,619.

Of those 1,619 cases, 34 of them are considered active.

Investigations completed thus far have found that 5 of the 34 active cases are in community living settings. As the number of active cases in communal living settings is now very low, it will no longer be reported separately unless the number of active cases in these settings rises to above 20.

There are 4 active cases in the South West.

There have been 12 more recoveries today, bringing that provincial total to 1,561.

There are three people in hospital. One person is receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon, and two people are in intensive care, both in Saskatoon.

There have been 24 deaths related to COVID-19 reported to date.

Thus far, there have been 140,253 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan.

Yesterday there were 981 COVID-19 tests done.
