A key challenge for farm groups and organizations can be trying to find individuals interested in participating at the board level, the "Learn to Lead" course is designed to help producers feel more comfortable in board roles.

SaskCanola is hosting this year's Learn to Lead course from November 22nd to 24th at the Alt Hotel in Saskatoon.

SaskCanola's communications manager Ellen Grueter says the personal and professional development program is aimed at building leadership capacity and creating future leaders in Saskatchewan's agriculture industry.

The event is sponsored by SaskBarley, SaskOats, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, and SaskWheat.

The program covers a wide variety of topics including Governance Fundamentals, Communication and Teamwork, Talking to Media, Formal Dining Etiquette and Networking Protocols, and Learning Your Leadership Style and impact on Others.

Sask Crop Commissions is covering the $2500 registration fee for farmers interested in taking part.

Grueter says we know it's go time in the field if farmers are interested in attending but don't have time to apply they can just reach out to SaskCanola to reserve your spot and they'll follow up with you in more detail after harvest.

Farmers can express interest by calling SaskCanola at 1-306-975-0262 or emailing info@saskcanola.com.

More information on the Learn to Lead course can be found here.

The registration deadline is Friday, September 22.
