The AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs start tonight with a couple of Swift Current Broncos being called up to join their respective NHL farm teams. 

Captain Owen Pickering, who was picked in the first round, 21st overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2022 NHL Draft, will be joining the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as they start a best-of-three series with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms tonight. Pickering set career highs in points (46) and assists (39) with the Broncos this season. 

Top-scorer Conor Geekie will join the Tucson Roadrunners as they start a best-of-three set with the Calgary Wranglers tonight at the Saddledome. Geekie, who scored 23 goals and 50 points in 29 games with the Broncos this season, was drafted 11th overall in 2022 by what is now Utah’s NHL team.

Predators even up series with win over Canucks

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Anthony Beauvillier, Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons and Kiefer Sherwood scored for the Nashville Predators in a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks, who were without star netminder Thatcher Demko who is day-to-day with an injury. Nikita Zadorov had the lone goal for the Canucks as the series was tied up at a game apiece.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Avalanche are coming home with a split of the first two games against the Winnipeg Jets after bouncing back from a 7-6 loss on Sunday with a 5-2 win on Tuesday. Miles Wood, Artturi Lehkonen, Zach Parise, Josh Manson and Valeri Nichushkin scored for Colorado, while David Gustafsson and Mark Scheifele scored for the Jets.

Also, Carter Verhaeghe scored 2:59 into overtime as the Florida Panthers beat Tampa Bay 3-2 to take a 2-0 lead on the Lightning, and Vincent Trocheck and Mika Zibanejad each had a goal and an assist as the New York Rangers beat the Washington Captials 4-3 to go up 2-0 in their series. 

Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Bruins for Game 3 after splitting the first two games in Boston, the Edmonton Oilers host the Los Angeles Kings looking to go up 2-0 in the series after posting a 7-4 win on Monday, and the Dallas Stars will be trying to even up their series against the Vegas Golden Knights, who won Game 1 on Monday 4-3. 

And game three of the SJHL's Canterra Seeds Cup Final goes tonight in Melfort with the Mustangs looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead on the top-ranked Flin Flon Bombers. 

Costly error by Vladdy leads to Royals' win over Jays

Bobby Witt, Jr. hit a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning following a costly fielding error by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as the Kansas City Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 on Tuesday to even up their four-game set.

Kevin Gausman allowed three unearned runs and a walk over 6.2 innings for Toronto, who send Yariel Rodriguez to the mound for the third game of the series tonight.
