COVID-19 isolation rules will be changing in the province of Saskatchewan beginning on Friday.

Residents who test positive for COVID-19 through a PCR or rapid antigen test will be required to self-isolate for five days regardless of vaccinations status. Before, unvaccinated residents who tested positive were required to self-isolate for 10 days.

Those who self-isolate must do so for five days from the date of the test or 24 hours after your fever is gone without the aid of medication and all symptoms have been improving for at least 48 hours.

Close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases will no longer be required to self-isolate, regardless of vaccination status.

This means if you are a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19, you should self-monitor for symptoms and use publicly-available rapid antigen test. Rapid tests can be found in Moose Jaw at the Kinsmen Sportsplex, the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce and the Moose Jaw Public Library as long as supplies are available.

For parents and caregivers, you do not need to notify the school of positive COVID-19 cases for close contact purposes.

If you have been self-isolating for 10 days because you are an unvaccinated positive case or a close contact, you can amend your self-isolation time as of noon on Friday if asymptomatic. If symptomatic, you must continue to self-isolate until your symptoms are gone.

Meanwhile, all other public health orders remain in effect. This includes mandatory masking in all public indoor spaces, mandatory self-isolation for all confirmed cases and proof of vaccination or a negative test to access public places such as bars, restaurants and event venues.
