Update 5:00 p.m.:

Work is taking a little longer than expected on Highway 363.

Crews are reporting that the work will be continuing through Saturday. They expect to be wrapping it up later in the day.

Folks should make sure to monitor the Highway Hotline, to see if the work is completed. If the markers for the work are gone, folks may presume that the road is back in full working order.

Original Story 11:57 a.m.:

It's slow travelling on Highway 363 west from Neipath today.

Crews are working on the emergency replacement of a culvert 3.3 kilometres west of Neidpath.

All lanes are closed for the work, with detours in place. Motorists are being encouraged to slow down and to watch for detour routes.

Dan Palmer, media spokesperson for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, explains why they need to get this work done before winter.

"It needs to be done before the winter sets in or freezing occurs," said Palmer. "Because when we get to spring, it will help mitigate issues with ice jams and water run offs."

Folks should check the Highway Hotline before travelling. Incidents on all of Saskatchewan roadways can be viewed utilizing the interactive map, with descriptions of the incidents available by clicking on them. By checking the Hotline, folks can plan alternative routes, and avoid delays.
