Last night, the Shaunavon District Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire within Shaunavon.

Merrick Goldstein, Fire Chief for the Shaunavon District Fire and Rescue, responded to the call with eight other firefighters at 2 a.m.

They arrived at the house located on the 400 block of First Street West to find fire already spilling out of the bedroom windows.

"We were able to knock it down fairly quickly, but it took us quite a while to get through hotspots with the old construction and sawdust in the attic," said Goldstein.

After four hours of battling back the blaze, the crew was able to depart the scene at 6 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and there were no injuries.

"Thankfully, there was nobody inside," added Goldstein.

RCMP and Shaunavon District Fire and Rescue are continuing to investigate this matter.
