Two of the three individuals facing charges from the pair of drugs and weapons seizures announced on Monday had their first appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court Monday afternoon.


Background: Trio of City Residents Charged in Pair of Drug, Weapons Seizures


Eighteen-year-old Ashton Krahn, the sole individual charged in the executed search warrant on May 3, was announced as having been conditionally released with his next court date set for the following month.

Conditions of Krahn's release are as follows:

  • Report to a Probation Officer;
  • Stay inside his residence 24 hours per day unless given permission by Probation Officer;
  • Can not travel more than 100 kilometres from his residence;
  • Can not have drugs or alcohol on his person;
  • Can not possess any weapons;
  • Can not possess a cell phone;
  • Must submit to searches; and,
  • Non contact with several individuals involved (names withheld).

Krahn will be back in Swift Current Provincial Court on June 10.

Twenty-year-old Blaine Peters, one of two individuals facing charges after an April 30 search warrant was executed, had his matter adjourned to May 6. Peters will appear in court tomorrow morning at 9:30.

The other Swift Current resident charged in the April 30 incident, 18-year-old Bradley Melo, will first appear in Swift Current Provincial Court May 7 at 10:30 a.m.

Prosecutions advised that the April 30 and May 3 incidents are not related.
