The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires opened the SMAAAHL pre-season with a 6-2 loss to the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors on Wednesday night in the Friendly City.

Jackson Fox opened the scoring for the Legionnaires on a penalty shot with 2:01 left in the first period, but the Warriors responded with five unanswered goals in the second, with two goals from Keaton Lesperance and markers from Charlie Nameth, Ryan Gibbs and Carson Deichart. Fox scored late in the second to make it 5-2 for Moose Jaw, and Dylan Duzan wrapped up the scoring for the home team late in the third.

Jace Egland had an assist on Fox's second goal and Jacob Morris made 26 saves as the Legionnaires outshot the Warriors 35-32.

The Legionnaires visit the Battlefords on Saturday before wrapping up exhibition play at home against the Warriors on Sunday. Swift Current will open the regular season in Moose Jaw on September 30.
