The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires wrapped up the SMAAAHL pre-season with a 4-2 loss to the Battlefords Stars and a 6-1 setback to the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors.

On Saturday in the Battlefords, Linken Fisher opened the scoring for the Stars late in the first period before Jace Egland tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second. Tyce Penrod put the Battlefords ahead 2-1 late in the second. Millar Kramer scored 31 seconds into the third to put the Stars up 3-1, and Trae Lees cut the Legionnaires' deficit to 3-2 with a power play goal with 8:19 left before Hayden Meszaros sealed the victory with a power play marker for the Battlefords with 1:27 left in the game. Conner Bender made 35 saves in the loss for Swift Current.

At Innovationplex on Sunday, Moose Jaw jumped out to a 3-0 lead with first period goals from Dylan Duzan and Ryan Gibbs, and Jonah Pinel added a goal for the Warriors early in the second. Kade Stringer put Swift Current on the board midway through the middle frame, but Moose Jaw would get third period goals from Bryce Boughen, Ryan Gibbs and Brennan Brown to wrap up the scoring. Jacob Morris made 32 saves in the Legionnaires' net.

The Legionnaires will start the regular season on a nine-game road swing starting on September 30 in Moose Jaw. Their first home game of the season will be on October 28 against the Saskatoon Contacts.
