The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires beat the Warman Wildcats 4-3 on the road Sunday to take a 2-0 advantage in their best-of-five first round playoff series.

Jace Egland opened the scoring for Swift Current with a power play goal 6:10 into the game, and Rylan Williams scored in the final minute of the first period to put the Legionnaires up 2-0 after 20 minutes. Warman responded with three unanswered goals in the second period including two power play goals from Dawson Gerwing and Kazden Mathies, and an even strength marker from Carsyn Dyck with 4:39 left to put Warman up 3-2, but Hudson Darby scored on the man advantage with 22 seconds left in the middle frame to tie the game back up. Parker Rondeau scored the go-ahead goal for Swift Current 2:24 into the third period, which would stand up as the game-winner. Berney Weston made 30 saves as Warman outshot Swift Current 33-26.

The Legionnaires can sweep the Wildcats and move on to the SMAAAHL semi-final with a win in game three on Tuesday night at 8:00pm from InnovationPlex. Game four, if needed, would be in Warman on Thursday night.
