The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires opened the weekend with a 5-1 win over the league-leading Prince Albert Mintos at Innovationplex on Saturday.

Porter Nickason opened the scoring for Swift Current 58 seconds into the game before Konnor Watson tied it at 1-1 just two minutes later. Griffin Darby the scored with 1:24 left in the second period to start a run of four unanswered goals for the Legionnaires, with Jackson Fox, Jace Egland and Kade Stringer also scoring in the third.

Darby, Parker Rondeau and Connor Reiger added two assists each and Berney Weston made 42 saves as the Mintos outshot Swift Current 43-24.

The Legionnaires (9-4-1) take on the Mintos again Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm from Innovationplex.
