The local organization, MyCityCare, set up a donation giveaway this past Saturday to hand out the items collected at their donation drive the previous weekend.

The event took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the corner of Second Avenue Northeast and Cheadle Street East, where the community fridge is located.

Tom Weppler, a director at MyCityCare Swift Current, noted that the best investment a person can make is to help support their community.

"It's a beautiful day to have the community come out," he said. "Today we have the opportunity to help people that are in need."

More than 50 people stopped by the event to pick up clothing and items for children, youth, and adults or grab a coffee, provided by Urban Ground.

"We do what we do together with the community, impacting with love and generosity," said Weppler.

"Thank you to the community again for putting the word out, the awareness, for the donations that have come forward, and our sponsorships," Weppler added.
