Swift Current will be full of young thespians at the end of this month as the Swift Current Comprehensive High School hosts the upcoming regional drama festival.

The school's drama program will be entering two productions into the festival and residents will have the chance of a sneak peek as Riley Sharp history teacher and technical director of the school's drama program explains.

"We always do home performances before the festival. So, this year we are hosting a home performance on Wednesday, March 29th that is going to be at 7:00 pm in the comp cafeteria and we would love to have a crowd come out it's great for the student's and admission is free. We do accept donations to help us with costs around the set or going to provincials if we head there."

My Brother's Gift and the Inexplainable Chaos of Mia Gregory are the two productions being performed and submitted to the upcoming regional drama festival by the school.

The festival itself will be taking place Friday, March 31st, and Saturday, April 1st with a variety of productions coming from as far away as Warman, Saskatchewan. There will be two or three plays in each session lasting under an hour each and the cost to attend the festival is $10. The two comp productions will be taking place with one at 7:00 pm on March 31st and one at 1:00 pm on April 1st.

Sharp says they could use the communities help in locating a key prop still needed for one of the productions.

"We would love if we could find some way to get an authentic phonograph or gramophone for the play set during the Holocaust. It's in the script and it would be really quite the treat to have. It doesn't actually need to work; I mean that would be so cool. It's just to set the stage. We have built things like this before but there's nothing quite like the real deal."
