A local watercross athlete headed to 'Rock the Rattlesnake' this past weekend where he secured two Western Canadian Watercross Association trophies.

Lac Pelletier's 14-year-old Emery Burton travelled to Rattlesnake Lake in Alberta to compete in the vintage ski class with competitors from across Western Canada.

Burton placed third place in his first found on Saturday before coming back on Sunday to take second place in round two.

"It was good, I was not expecting to do so well," he said.

The watercross racing ran from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with an entry fee of $5 per vehicle or free for spectators.

Burton was proud of his accomplishments and looks forward to competing again on July 13 and 14 in Saskatoon.

Following the action on the lake Saturday, food trucks were open and two bands; Wicked Garden and Cannonball Knights, performed live music from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
