A local youth has shovelled away some of his hard work and gifted the results to the Swift Current SPCA.

Luc Perrault had spent the winter clearing snow in his spare time, outside of class and extracurricular activities. He set aside 20 per cent of his funds, of which he donated to the Swift Current SPCA totalling $250.

Ashley Muhle, fundraising manager for the Swift Current SPCA, was thrilled to see a local youth taking an interest in what they do, and taking action to contribute to their efforts.

"It's really nice to see that the young people are getting involved and helping with donations for the SPCA," said Muhle.

This money will be going to general expenses at the SPCA. Things like food for the animals, covering operating costs, or perhaps even new toys for the cats and dogs staying there.

Muhle hopes to see even more kids making donations as the summer continues. Previously, the young people of Swift Current have held lemonade stands, done bottle drives, and made other efforts to help make life at the shelter a little easier.

If anyone would like to donate money, the shelter is always appreciative of any amount they get. Whether it's planned out, or unannounced like what Perrault did.

"He just kind of came in with the cheque," said Muhle. "We were extremely surprised and happy. Happy to see another young person involved with the SPCA."
