Swift Current’s historic venue of performing arts is progressing towards reopening, thanks to the ongoing ‘Give a Sheet for the Lyric’ campaign.

The Lyric Theatre has reached 17 per cent of its fundraising goal of $250,000 since starting in September.

Interim General Manager, Georgia Graham, is hoping to keep building on the current momentum.

“We've done really well so far,” she said. “We're not anywhere near our goal, but we weren't expecting to get there quickly. We're hoping to get a few more grants coming in that we've applied for just recently, work has started, so we're hoping to be able to have some of that completed here in March.”

The next step is to then meet with the City of Swift Current and the Swift Current Fire Department to revisit the progress.

Community members who would like to help out have some options for the fireguard drywall fundraiser: one sheet is $25, four sheets are $100, 10 sheets are $250 or 40 sheets for $1,000. Donations can be made here
