Roughly 40 concerned citizens took part in the Mask Up For Education demonstration this morning outside local MLA Everett Hindley's office.

The demonstration was a chance for those involved to show the provincial government that people feel overwhelmingly that the government's safe school plan is inadequate and dangerous.

Many of those that attended, used the demonstration as a platform to vocally express their fears and concerns about students returning to school in the fall.

Those that spoke represented a variety of views including that of teachers, healthcare workers, and parents.

A number of concerns were expressed including no reduction of class size, no dedicated funding for reopening schools during the COVID pandemic, and no mandatory mask policy among other issues.

Hindley was present at the demonstration and thanked those for attending and voicing their concerns. He added that the issue would be discussed next week at a government caucus meeting.
