Big deals being made ahead of NHL trade deadline

The NHL's trade deadline is on Friday, but GMs were not waiting to make some big deals.

The Calgary Flames sent defenceman Noah Hanafin to the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for two conditional draft picks in 2025 and defenceman Daniil Miromanov. Also, the league-leading Florida Panthers shored up their forward group by adding Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators, and the Edmonton Oilers picked up forwards Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from Anaheim as they make a late playoff push.

On the ice, Auston Matthews scored in overtime to give Toronto a 2-1 win over Buffalo, and Alex Killorn got the game winner in Anaheim’s 2-1 win over Ottawa. The Flames visit Tampa Bay, Edmonton heads to Columbus, Montreal travels to Carolina, Toronto visits Boston, Ottawa travels to LA and Vancouver visits Vegas as part of a busy Thursday night NHL schedule.
