The City of Swift Current will be buying a lane maintenance grader for $295,740 (including PST) as of Monday night's council meeting.

It'll be a small, all-wheel drive grader bought from Redhead Equipment - which was the only proposal that met the all-wheel drive specification.

Councilor George Bowditch said with a lot of gravel lanes in "rough shape" he's very happy with the purchase, calling it a "no brainer."

Having the blade be smaller than what the City already has is important, as Mitch Minken - general manager of infrastructure and operations, said it'll be better for allowing a crown in the middle of the road and letting water drain properly.

Minken said delivery of the grader is expected immediately.

The budgeted cost was initially $250,000 but the difference will be reallocated from the 2018 Capital Projects, which will be under budget.
