The ladies over at the Elmwood Golf Course had their day in the sun over the weekend.

The 2022 Ladies in Pink Classic charity golf tournament had the greens to themselves as they played in order to raise money for the women's shelter.

And raise money they did, with around $2,500 being brought in by over 60 different sponsors.

Running the event was Jodie Hyswick, chairperson for Elmwood, is the main organizer for the event, and was pleased with the day's turnout.

"Basically I just went out and hit the pavement," said Hyswick. "I spoke to businesses in the community and they chose to make a monetary donation or prize donation.
It was just a great success."

Non-Elmwood members paid $90 to enter the tournament, and members paid $60. That bought them 18 holes of golf, a golf cart for the day and a chicken cordon blue dinner afterwards.

And it wasn't just guests and members playing. Both Brodielynn Finlayson and Alicia Dowe work at the Elmwood Golf Course and were participating in the event.

"I think for the members here it means a lot," said Finlayson. "The ladies get to go out for a day and it's tons of fun. No boys allowed."

They were excited to hit the course and enjoy the sunshine the day offered while supporting a cause.

"The fundraiser is going to the woman's shelter today," confirmed Dowe. "For the one here in Swift Current, we're going to have an amazing time."

The plan for next year is to continue the annual Ladies in Pink Classic, so long as there is support for it in the community from both sponsors and participants.
