The kickoff fundraising event for the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group is all set to go this weekend in Shaunavon.

The newly formed group is looking to offer financial assistance and support to seriously ill people around the southwest.

They need between 10 and 15,000 dollars to begin taking applications so a number of fundraising events are being planned.

Brenda Waldron is the Secretary of the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group. She says, "Through the summer, to the best of my knowledge, we'll be doing a lunch at Boomtown Days after the Parade. And I know that the fundraising committee is looking at an early fall days event, and I know there's something tied in with the Parade of Lights."

The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group Fundraiser goes this Saturday May 6th from nine a.m. until three p.m. in the Shaunavon Legion Hall.

They will have a Garage Sale, Bake Sale, and Plant Sale going all day, along with serving up hotdogs and homemade pie.

Donations of good quality garage sale items and baking will be accepted on Friday May 5th at the Legion from noon until eight p.m.
