It is no secret that many businesses have had to adapt the way they go about their daily operations during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Quality Glass in Swift Current is no different.

Jordan Neufeld is a sales representative with the local Swift Current company.

"As an essential service in the construction industry, we have had to adapt to the needs of clients and contractors like implementing social distancing in the factory and also in the field"

Since 1989, Quality Glass has adjusted what they specialize in to better serve their loyal customers, and they have adapted their business successfully as technology has advanced in those 30 years.

"We started out just doing windshields and SASH repairs and a little bit of commercial work. We then felt that it was in our interest to start building windows and since then we have seen the evolution of the PVC windows. We've seen the emergence of high-performance glass and along with that we have seen the energy conscious and educated consumers that have been seeking products to achieve energy savings whether it be through the windows or doors and products that last. They don't want to repurchase often so we've got products that last. Our first window that we ever built is still in place and still functioning as it should. Also, door frames and doors that are lasting a lifetime. We`ve also seen some changes in the automotive industry such as the way automobiles are manufactured with the glass being an interval part of the structure of the vehicle." explained a Quality Glass Employee.

With more businesses setting their sights on June 8 as a potential re-opening date with the release of the phase 3 plan from the Saskatchewan Government, Quality Glass is continuing to serve the community by manufacturing sneeze guards. They are able to manufacture them all in their warehouse, and they have enough storage capacity for however many orders come in from various businesses in the community.

With social distancing in effect to stay safe from passing around or contracting Covid-19, a nice way to soak in the sun on those hot days would be to look at designing a sunroom.  Quality Glass makes this process very easy with their involvement from the very beginning of the project.

As Jordan explains:

"Usually what we will do is go on-site either with just the client or the customer, we will walk through the area, measure things make sure that things are going to work of course before we go ahead and make a design up. We then usually get an idea as to whatever the customer's ideas might be and what the contractor's ideas are. We then ask what kind of lifestyle they want this to fall in. If they want to use it for say, just the summer, then we can do stuff to make it just for the summer. If they want to use it all year round, we can definitely implement things to make it more comfortable in the winter, maybe that means getting plumbers in to get heating in, we can do that. We usually like to see the process all the way from the start to finish even if it is from a contractor or ourselves as we can install and do the work as well. Whatever the client wants is pretty much what we can achieve because there are lots of different styles, different ways of going about it, whether they just want a straight roof canopy over their deck or a fully enclosed extra room onto their house. That is all available through us."

Quality Glass has been fortunate enough to not have to let anyone go during these times of uncertainty, but instead, they have hired a new position within their building.
